WORKSHOP POLAND

When: from June the 13rd to 16th 2011

Where: Zlotoriya. Little but fascinating Polish town with houses tainted in pastel color and full of green areas (very close to the center there’s also a little lake), where many children play mellow between little paved street in the center of the town. On the windows hundreds of dishes, sign of a population that is gradually adapting to western models.

Who: Alessandro Serena and Rebecca Magosso from Circo e dintorni, Bogdan Zajac and the guys from Ocelot

Zlotoriya, the most ancient Polish city, celebrates its eight hundred years from foundation. This is the venue of Ocelot, the Polish Homeless project partner and it’s here that a step of the project takes place: from June the 13rd to the 16th it’s time for the creative workshop realized in cooperation between Circo e dintorni and Poland. Almost a week to know each other, see the places where Ocelot works with its young athletes and the offices where it works. Which is the goal? A creative workshop in which try to use a different way of approaching to gestures and practice of acrobatics. Two different phases: the first according to the guys method of work that favors the care of technique and the second that favors the theatrical interpretation. Between the goals that to join acrobatic exercise to interpretation of simple roles, succeeding in transmitting to an audience different emotions in every different situation. The best choice: using the emotive participation in the practice of the athletic act as essential part of the proposed exercises, permitting the creation of acts with good technic worth, that can go off the deep end with the audience. Amusement, increasing the consciousness of oneself. With a method of work that uses theatre and extemporary creation, every guy can take advantage of some expedient to create particular situation and involve the public. Many group situation to increase the ability of collaboration among athletes and the ability to use the strong points of everyone to create a common action in different contexts. Before June some week for Polish guys to prepare some little acts and after the little “show” the most creative part: a series of plays and activities in a series of funny actions joining gesture and acrobatics. For the guys a series of little acrobatic and played sequences with a theme, as the search of the food and the fiction of a fight. Acrobatics and interpretation… so, let’s leave space for the creation!

Chance to have fun, but even for the selection of artists to be inserted in the show in progress: it comes from here the quartet of acrobatic gymnasts selected to be in the project.
